Five on Friday

So I lied about being a better blogger. And I didn't post a recap on Wedding Wednesday. But I am hopeful that will be happening next week.

Anyway, I decided today to link up with Darci and be oh so thankful that it's finally Friday and I have a fun weekend ahead of me! Maybe if I am super on top of things I'll post a weekend recap on Monday... but don't hold your breath.

{One}
Since our wedding was a mere two weeks ago, I have still been pretty much consumed with thoughts about our photos, writing thank you notes and doing reviews of our vendors. I was not very happy to find out that our photographer planned on charging us something like $500 to get a CD of our images. After a few emails back and forth, we have gotten that price WAY down and hopefully I will have all 885 images in my possession by late next week. Can this please be the final wedding cost we have?

{Two}
I'm one of those people who has a hard time pulling the trigger on online purchases of any kind. But when I have $20 off AND another coupon, it makes it real easy for me :) I have been subscribing to Birchbox since October and I finally made a purchase with some built up points I had. I decided on a pretty new eye shadow palette and new brushes to go along with it.

{Three}
Even though I haven't really kept up with my promise to blog more, I have been getting to the gym more! I went 4x this week and hit my 10,000 step mark on the FitBit every day so far this week. Considering this really hasn't happened since early May, I am calling this week a win at the gym.

{Four}
I am beyond excited that the new season of OITNB is out today on Netflix! Both unfortunately and fortunately, I have a fun, busy weekend planned, so I won't be able to binge watch until next week. And even then I might try to pace myself because having to wait yet another year for a new season will be so long and so painful. Does anyone out there share in my obsession/binge watching habits? Also, can anyone recommend other shows I can binge watch throughout the year?!

{Five}
Finally, the weekend plans I have on tap include some of my favorite things - wine, friends, pool time and shopping. One of my main goals for the weekend is finding some new office decor so I can get some things up on the bare walls at work. Also, I need to start working on those tan lines!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! :)

June Goals

It's official. I am going to try to blog again on a semi-usual basis. Hopefully I can make myself stick to this, because I really do enjoy having an outlet for my creative side.

Okay, so in order to make myself accountable to this blog and life in general, I have set some June goals for myself. Mainly because I was looking at my 25 Before 25 list and am pretty depressed by all the things I did not do in a year. But such is life and maybe I'll make a 30 Before 30 list and actually get around to some of those things.

Goal #1: Blog at least 10 times this month. Right now I have blogged twice, so eight more times and I am golden!

Goal #2: Purchase/complete wedding photo wall. Obviously this goal will be contingent on when we get our photos back, but I have an idea of how I'd like to display them. Thanks, Pinterest!

Goal #3: Get a tanline. After months of stand up bed tanning, I am ready to lay out by the pool with my bathing suit on and get some lines!

Goal #4: Be more consistent with working out. I kind of got off the working out train about 2 weeks before the wedding (perfect timing, I know). But it was only because I actually had to kind of keep myself from losing weight because I wanted the dress to fit properly. Now I don't have that excuse anymore and I want to try to get to the gym at least 3x a week.

Goal #5: Celebrate my 25th in a fun way. I love birthdays - especially my own - so it's no surprise that I want to do something fun for this one. I know 25 isn't really a big deal, but maybe I can talk the hubby into taking me to the aquarium or a baseball game!

So since five is a nice number, and sounds like a reasonable amount of goals that I can actually accomplish, I am going to stop there. Check in next month to see if I stuck to anything I wanted to get done!

A Wedding to Bring Me Back

Oh hi there. Remember me? Probably not. I haven't blogged since October - which is kind of crazy when I think that it has been over 7 months and I think of everything that has happened since then. Between the holidays, wedding festivities, and just life in general I seriously cannot believe the year is almost halfway over.

But I digress. I figured what better time to come back to blogging then right after the wedding? I always LOVE reading about everyone else's weddings and seeing all the pretty pictures. So that's what I am going to do. And hopefully there are still a few of you out there who follow along :)

So since I haven't yet gotten back my professional wedding photos/video, today I am going to give you all a list. A Top Five list to be specific, of things I learned throughout the wedding planning process.

1. Weddings are Expensive & You Need a Budget. Obviously this is the most common fact about weddings. To be honest, we could have gone a cheaper route. We could have done more things DIY, not invited as many people, etc., etc. But in the end we were able to afford it all, with help from both sets of parents. But I believe it is really important to talk with your significant other from the start about how much you want to spend on this one day of your lives. It will definitely help avoid those pesky money-related arguments and also keep your bank account from dropping to $0.

2. Don't Compare Your Wedding to Others. This has to be the hardest thing for any bride to do. Between Pinterest, Facebook, blogs, wedding TV shows, etc. there are so many ideas and opinions out there! It's so important to remember that your day is going to be just that - YOUR day. Once I was able to get past what everyone else was doing/did I felt a lot less anxious and really made it OUR day and not someone else's.

3. You Will Not Get Any Cake. Sorry, but this is true for about 98% of brides. I was lucky enough to be able to actually eat dinner (which I know most brides miss out on, too!). My advice? Keep half of your top tier for next year, and enjoy the other half now - life is too short :)

4. Stick To Your Guns. Tony and I are far from being one of those unique couples who are totally non-traditional - but some of the things we chose to do were a little different from the norm. For instance, doing a first look was something that I wanted from the start. Days before the wedding I had multiple family members asking me if I really wanted to do that and giving me all of their reasons why we shouldn't do it and blah blah blah. Well let me tell you, I am SO happy we did a first look! It truly eased my nerves and made me feel ultra relaxed for the remainder of the day/night.

5. Not Everything Will Go According to Plan. Every bride says this, and it is true. Luckily for us, we didn't have any major hiccups on the day of the wedding, so I really can't complain. However, little things like my garter falling down constantly, the pens not working on the guestbook and me completely failing on the bouquet toss were just little things that in the end, do not really matter at all!

That's all my advice for now. Next week? A recap of my girls and me getting ready!
