Yeah, I'm Really Not Sorry

So I'm not really sure why, but my blog brain has been kind of MIA lately. I don't really have any new wedding updates, and the last few days have been kind of busy and I am just making excuses at this point. #sorrynotsorry

See what I did there? Okay, so onto today's blog challenge: #sorrynotsorry.

// Sometimes when I am starving after work and literally feel like I cannot make it the 20 minutes it will take to make my real food, I eat peanut butter out of the jar. #sorrynotsorry

// I recently started playing the Kim Kardashian game. #sorrynotsorry, but I am a little ashamed.

// I have completely given up on doing anything cute with my hair during the work week. #sorrynotsorry

// I don't see the appeal/obsession that people have with Crossfit. In fact, I have actually read a few articles that talk about how bad those workouts are for your joints and whatnot. #sorrynotsorry

// In the summer I use lots of tanning oil to get that bronzed look. And if I burn a little, that's even better. #sorrynotsorry

// I've had our wedding planned for a good two years now. We got engaged 7 months ago. #sorrynotsorry

// I hate salad. I've tried it a bunch of times now, and I just hate it. Trust me, if I liked it, it would make my life a lot easier. I think the woman in pre-school who force fed me salad ruined it for me. #sorrynotsorry

// I can be extremely sarcastic. Sometimes I get mega sarcastic if someone is not the brightest and a super easy target. #sorrynotsorry

// I don't really have anything else that I am not sorry for to write here #sorrynotsorry

But I really want to thank Juliette, Allie & Faith for providing my lazy self with topics throughout the month. I know I haven't been a participator every day, but it's definitely been a fun challenge!

Three Pictures on a Monday

Hi Monday. You sure got here quickly. But lucky for me, I have this lovely prompt of posting three pictures that makes my life easier. Because I have a lot of pictures. I'm not really sure what that says about me, but oh well. Here we gooooooo.

Favorite Picture:

So Tony & I have a lot of pictures now that we had a professional engagement session, but this is still my favorite picture. Maybe it's because I really like the story behind it. We were in West Virginia driving through the mountains looking for this tower overlook thing, and bam! there it was. I am really afraid of heights, so I told him that if he got me to climb up the metal (flimsy) stairs to the top, we WOULD be taking a picture. And so this beauty was born. I love how happy we are in this picture, and also the fact that I didn't fall to my death before or after!

Picture I took:

I am so proud of this picture. Mainly because I took it on my old Android and I think it looks gorgeous. This was an early morning shot I took as I was on my way out the door to work around 6 a.m. And I am not going to lie, I had this as my phone's lock screen for a good six months.

Ah yes, the blurry iPhone selfie. Taken at a recent wedding that my friend and I went to. And the drinks were the bomb dot com. Sorry I don't have a more amazing selfie or one that's super funny. But this is my favorite selfie at the moment and I don't want to post my most recent one because it's of me being silly on the couch while I was home alone and bored. Please see things I do when I am alone.

Okay so that was fun. Linking up, obviously, so go do it, too, and show everyone your three pictures!

Friday Is My Favorite F Word

So because I am still a rookie in blogging, I just now figured out how to get my font to look like this. And it makes me happy because I really wasn't feeling how it was looking before. Please don't make fun of me, I am still learning people! But anyways, instead of me just rambling on about blog fonts like a nerd, I will follow along like everyone else and do my five/favorite/whatever it is Friday.

Favorite Purchase

Hands down my favorite purchase(s) this week were all of the things I bought to spruce up our living room. I will do a post all about that once we get all the picture frames up, but for now here are just two of my most favorite items from that shopping trip. Thank you Home Goods & Kirklands!

Favorite Thing I Am Looking Forward To

Our upcoming trip to Niagara Falls in September. I was really excited when we booked it a few weeks ago, but now that it's almost August that means we are getting closer and I am so so so looking forward to it! We are going with another couple, so this is our first real "couples" trip. And we've been together for almost 8 years. I really appreciate Tony's best friend getting his stuff together and finding a good girlfriend that we all like and can do couples' trips now. But yeah, here is what our room is going to look like and it actually has two bedrooms because that would just be weird to share a room with another couple. And not very romantic.

 Favorite Thing I Ate

Bacon Brownies. Yep, that's right. As far as healthy eating goes, this week has been a wash. Because no matter what I do, somehow bacon gets involved. And how are you just going to turn down a FREE bacon brownie? You're not, that's the answer. And it was so delicious and I may or may not have had a second one with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Because my wedding isn't for 10 more months and I have plenty of time, right? Yeah, sure. But I do promise I am getting my butt back in gear for next week. Stay away you evil bacon!

Favorite Creative Moment

So these moments are pretty few and far between, but I was all inspired from my shopping trip and getting cute stuff for our living room, that I decided to make some things for two of the frames that will be going on our living room walls. These are the results. Obviously the "F" is for what both of last name's will soon be, and then I just really like this quote and I mimicked the design from something I found on Etsy, because I wasn't going to pay $10 for something I could semi- do myself.

Favorite Thing I Learned

How to get my font to look like this, obviously. But really, it's the little things that make me happy.

Favorite Pin

I love the idea of taking a shadow box with lots of compartments and making it into a hanging jewelry box. I have so many earrings and necklaces just thrown into a box right now that I really can't even tell what I have anymore! So yes, this might be a project that I complete this weekend... we shall see. Isn't it cute, though?

Have a glorious weekend everyone!

Heading Back to 1990

Happy to be linking up with Juliette, Faith & Allie on this #TBT. I am really loving this prompt and can't wait to see how cheap stuff used to be when I was still in diapers. Shall we?

In 1990...

// Regular gas cost an average of $1.16 per gallon. This makes me want to curl up into the fetal position and cry a little.

// A first-class stamp was .25 cents. Oh hey .1 cent increase per year. What the hell is that?

// Mariah Carey won a Grammy for "Best New Artist" - that woman looks amazing for her age, btw.

// Seinfeld & The Simpsons were brand new shows.

// The average income was about $29K. Praise the Lord that went up! because if I am paying almost $4 for gas something has gotta give.

// I was this adorable. And never stopped crying. Like ever (apparently).

// A Furby cost $39.99. Can we just talk about how overpriced that is for this freaky-looking thing? I mean, obviously I had one, but it's still creepy.

// Justin Bieber was not even alive yet. Can we go back to that, please?

Yep, 1990 was a good year. My future husband was born and I could take naps whenever I damn well felt like it. Ah, the good times.

Let Them Eat Cake

It may only be 8 a.m., but I am ready to talk about cake. In fact, it really doesn't matter what time of the day it is, I could talk about and/or eat cake any time. And since it's Wedding Wednesday and I have been too lazy to blog the last few days, I'm linking up with MeredithMary to talk wedding cake.

First off, there will obviously be cake at our wedding. I toyed with the idea of cupcakes and other fun treats, but when it comes down to it, we want to stick to the traditional route of doing cake. Plus, we are having an ice cream bar, so there's that too in case someone is nuts and doesn't like cake. I actually recently went to a wedding and there was NO cake. There was pie. This wedding was in JUNE. And it was pumpkin and apple pie. But I digress...

So Tony & I tasted wedding cake samples a few months back from a bakery that is owned by good family friends. We already knew how amazing their other baked goods were, so we were not surprised when we tasted the cakes and fell in love with all of the flavors. But since we are doing a three-tiered cake, we had to make some decisions. Here's what we chose:

Bottom Tier: Chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling
Middle Tier: Marble cake with pastry cream filling
Top Tier: Red Velvet cake (side note - this is my absolute favorite cake!)

After making such HARD decisions, We I started thinking about what the cake should look like. I always knew I wanted it to have some flowers on it, but it also needed something more. Hello, Pinterest, and thank you for the ideas. Cue the photo dump of ideas that I am playing around with and still have a good 6 months to decide on.

1. This is the design I showed to my florist, so that's the amount of flowers we will be getting for whatever cake design we choose. And it will be those colors - which I love! I am just worried this might be too plain of a design?

2. I absolutely LOVE this design and am contemplating sending this picture to the baker and just saying "do this!!" It's got the flowers, a little design, and those pretty crystal things. Are they edible?

3. This one has the pretty ribbon I thought I wanted, too. Maybe not a bow, though, because that's not really our style.

4. I pinned this one because it was a little different and had the elements of both a little design and also a solid tier. Not sure how that would look with only 3 tiers, though.

5. This one is okay, and again has all the elements I was looking for in a wedding cake. Not sure if I am crazy about the random ribbon pattern.

6. Plain, yet elegant is how I would describe this one. I like the soft design and the purple ribbon. However, I would need to see flowers on it to get the full effect.

7. Finally, I pinned this one because of the initials. I never really pictured having our initials on the cake, but it could be a nice touch, right? Ugh, so many decisions...

So that's where we are at in the design process. Like I said, we do have plenty of time to decide on what we want it to look like, and I have a basic idea of where it's going. The only thing I have to work on now is convincing Tony that we are not doing this cake topper.

He thinks it is "funny" but I think it makes it look like I am forcing him into this whole thing. Is that a stupid thought? I mean, I do see the humor - kind of - but I was hoping we could do something more modern like a monogram of our initials or "I Do" in metal. I feel as though this will be a last minute decision and I know it will be something that we don't even remember after the fact. But, are there any brides out there that did unique or special cake toppers? Are these even something that people keep anymore?

And now I really want some cake.

Things I'd Much Rather Do

Well look at me all blogging on a Sunday. I really liked this link-up topic that Juliette, Allie & Faith put out there for today, so why not participate? Plus, you can learn a lot about a person based on what they would rather have to endure. So please, don't be too judgey.

1. Be blind or be deaf Blind. I like to talk too much and listen to other people talk.
2. Be taller than you are or shorter than you are Taller. Then I wouldn't have to lose weight. Or at least not a lot of weight!
3. Be a teenager or a senior citizen for the rest of your life Senior citizen. You couldn't pay me to go back to being an awkward teenager.

4. Have no hands or no legs Hands. How would I text, type or cook/bake?!
5. Lose your front teeth or both eyebrows Since both can be replaced, I am going to go with eyebrows. Where's the pencil?!

6. Eat a worm or a cockroach Worm. I imagine it would go down smoother?
 7. Spend a day in the Sahara or North Pole North Pole. Because I am pretty sure some kind of animal would kill me in the Sahara and I am a wimp is the extreme heat.
8. Have a personal chef or a personal driver Personal chef hands down! Coming home to a healthy cooked meal every day would be amazeballs.
9. Always have to whisper or always have to shout Shout. Mainly because that girl in the AT&T commercial who whispers to the family has ruined whispering for me because now I only think about her. And I find her annoying for no reason in particular.
10. Can't taste or can't smell Can't taste. See "I could lose weight"
11. Wipe with sandpaper or saran wrap I think saran wrap is the least painful choice. Maybe not the cleanest? But I'm not about pain down there.
12. Have Twitter shut down for a day or your blog disappear for a day Twitter. Since there are days when I don't even really use it. Shocking, I know. I am a bad millennial.
13. Text of your blog is screwed up or all the pictures you post on your blog are blurry Blurry pictures. Because I can't stand when spacing is off.
14. Never be able to post another GIF or never be able to receive comments on your posts GIF. Because I loooooove getting comments and they make me uber happy.
15. Have a permanent wedgie or have the tag on your shirt constantly scratch your neck Shirt tag. Because wedgies are horrible and that's basically what wearing a thong is like and you won't find me in those.

Friday Faves Coming At Ya

Friday is for favorites, right? So let's get right down to it.

Favorite Food

This week I decided I was some kind of chef (HAHA) and wanted to jazz up my salmon. So I added honey BBQ sauce and bread crumbs and all 12 oz of that fish in the oven for about 30 minutes. And I have to say it was pretty delicious. I then paired it with some brown rice and I would have made broccoli but I was too lazy and too hungry at that point to wait any longer to eat. So there you have it.

Favorite Wine Glass

Unfortunately this is a sad little story. My favorite wine glass fell to her death on Wednesday night. I got this wine glass at a wine festival last year and it seriously was my most favorite one. Obviously there was nothing special about its design or anything, but it was my go-to glass and now I am so sad and would have to wait until MAY to get a similar glass at the festival.

Favorite Thing I'm Planning

So I know not a lot of people are probably reading this little blog of mine, but I am planning two parties that are sorta/kinda surprises and I am super excited about them! I can't wait until they actually happen and I can show you all the ideas I have come to life. So more on that later.

Favorite Selfie

I was being a total creeper this week and snapped a few selfies of me and Tony while we were on the couch. I mean, he was sleeping, because that's the only way I could really ever get him to take a selfie with me.

Favorite Song

I'm not sure why but I am really digging "Fancy" even though I know it's been out for a while now. Whenever it comes on I just lip sync the whole thing and watch myself like I am really singing or something. It's quite entertaining I think. Who dat? Who dat?

Favorite Funnies of the Week

Thanks Pinterest for making me giggle this week :)

Might be my kids someday....

And this one is just kind of cool....

I really hope you are shaking your head like a crazy person and you are at work and now people are staring.

All in all this week wasn't that crazy interesting, so that's all the favorites I have for ya. Here's to another start to a summer weekend that will hopefully include wine & naps!

A Wedding Rant

Let me just apologize upfront about this not being a lovey-dovey, look how much I have planned so far and how amazing it's going to be, blog post. But I need to have a mini rant.

We sent out our Save the Date's last week as you will remember, and I was so excited and couldn't wait to hear people tell me how cute they were, because cute engagement picture. Well I did get that reaction from a good amount of people. But then came the requests and opinions that I never asked for.

Q. Can you send so and so a separate invitation when the time comes to send those?

A. Seriously? You two have been dating for almost 8 years and I'm sorry that you don't live together, but why should I have to send you two invitations? If it wasn't for you dating her she wouldn't even be invited to the wedding. But no, since this is an "easy fix" as my mom put it, I will just give in and spend the extra $.49 so you can feel extra special because she got a separate invite. Maybe I'll even have it delivered with a singing bear or something...

Opinion: You probably should have put the time on your Save the Date since it's on a Friday

Response: Oh yeah? I didn't know it was called a Save the Date and Time. It's a Friday, yeah, get over it and if we are important enough that you want to come then just plan on dedicating at least half of your day to it. Obviously it's not going to be at 10 in the morning. AND you know someone in the bridal party who I am sure already told you the time. So thanks for the unwanted opinion.

Q. How much did XYZ cost?

A. This is just a rude question that should never be asked if you are not paying for it. Also, once I tell you said price because I am nice like that and hate being in awkward silence, please do not tell me how you paid half that price 35 YEARS AGO. Not sure if you have heard of a little something we call inflation, but it's real. And times have changed. So I will kindly ask you to shut the hell up.

And this last one isn't so much a stupid questions or request, but just something that is getting on my nerves juuuuuust a littttttle. My bridesmaids and I were trying to pinpoint a date in September to go look at dresses together. I really wanted to have all the girls there so that I could honestly get everyone's opinions and put everyone in a dress that they feel comfortable in. And there is only 4 girls. Shouldn't be that hard to coordinate, right? Wrong. For some reason September is the busiest month of the year and asking off work for ONE Saturday is impossible. So whatever, we picked a date and if everyone can be there, wonderful. And if not, oh well. I think that's going to be my motto from this point forward.

So again, I am really sorry if I just sounded like a total bridezilla, because I swear I am really not trying to be. Plus, this is the first place where I have really put all my thoughts and frustrations out there. And of course complained to my mom, duh. But I haven't "gone off" on anyone yet, so I am going to chalk that up as a win.

Am I crazy or is anyone else getting these kind of questions/unsolicited opinions?!

Love Always, Nancy J
